Portraits with a silhouette twist
Connected Photographer Magazine - February 2008
One of the first lessons many beginning photographers learn is to avoid taking pictures of people when they're standing in front of windows. Of course, another lesson many of us learn is there's a time and place to break the rules. In this fun article, Jorge Sosa shows you how and when to use the power of darkness (MUHAHAHA!) to create eye-catching silhouette portraits.

We're going to Disneyworld with Photoshop CS3's Black & White filter
Connected Photographer Magazine - September 2007
Adobe Photoshop CS3 has a neat new feature. It's an adjustment called Black & White and it works quite nicely as an adjustment layer. What's neat is this new feature gives you a lot more control over black and white images than you ever had by just desaturating or converting an image to grayscale.

Editor-in-Chief David Gewirtz describes how that's done in this article.

Connected Photographer Magazine - January 2005

In this week's photo tip, James shows you how to convert your color images to black and white to create those works of art.
