LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Staying on the right side of the law, and the inevitable grammar nit
By David Gewirtz
This week, we've got a thank you for James Booth's wonderful Photography Basics series, as well as this month's inevitable letter from a reader pointing out our lack of basic grammar skills. Here they are:
Staying on the right side of the law James, your article helped a lot; it made the subject understandable. I
am looking forward to your future writings. Thank you.
Joe Mirsky
Assistant U.S. Attorney
Appellate Division
U.S Department of Justice
Why we should have never played hooky in high school At the end of this e-mailed issue, you have: "James Booth is a self-taught PC and Palm device user that dabbles in graphics and photography. He can be reached at lizardworks@mchsi.com."
Is Mr. Booth a person or a thing? If a person, it might be better to write "...user who dabbles in...", don't you think?
Rodney Leinberger
My measured response
Mr. Booth is most definitely a person (as I'm sure you well know). One would hope you derived more value from his article than whether or not his bio is gramatically perfect. This is, after all, Connected Photographer Magazine, not Connected Picky About Grammar Magazine.
That said, thanks for pointing it out.
Please keep those cards and letters coming. You can send them in to editor@ZATZ.com.
